Dot Heroes is coming back! One more flight, one more fight

More than a decade after the original, I am returning to Dot Heroes with what I have learned as a game developer and the chance to keep working on an idea I still like.

Hello there, Ariano here,

Today I want to show you something a little different from Craftlings. Dot Heroes is coming back, and its story goes all the way back to 2015, when I first released it on Android.

I liked the idea back then, but I didn’t have the chance to keep working on it. Since then, I have learned a lot as a game developer, and I wanted to return to Dot Heroes and use that experience to make it better.

So here we are, more than a decade later, working on that little flying ninja again. 🙂

If you missed the original, Dot Heroes combines Flappy Bird-style flying with RPG elements and automatic battles. You tap to fly as far as you can, collecting shurikens for the fight. Your ninja then uses them to battle a monster automatically. The rewards you earn go into upgrades, making your ninja stronger so you can take on tougher monsters.

More than a new look

That idea is still at the heart of the game. For this version, I have rebuilt the graphics, animations and sounds, and added more to what happens in the arena.

The hats are a good example. They now affect how your ninja behaves in a fight, and I have also added powerful new attacks. Your little hero has learned a few things since 2015 too. 😉

Away from the arena, I have been building on the RPG side too. The Forge and potions are back from the original, and the new Kitchen lets you prepare food for your ninja. There are also belts to work towards, giving you another goal alongside improving your hero and taking on tougher monsters.

And if you enjoy chasing a better rank, there is something for you here too. The rankings let you see how your progress compares with other players, with badges from Bronze to Legend. I am curious to see which one you reach. 👀

  1. Bronze
  2. Silver
  3. Gold
  4. Platinum
  5. Diamond
  6. Master
  7. Grand Master
  8. Legend

I hope those of you who remember the original will enjoy seeing what has changed. And if Dot Heroes is new to you, I hope you will give the little flying ninja a chance too. Take a look on Google Play and let me know how far you got!

Thanks for reading, Ariano
